Calcium Vital tablets
After your weight loss surgery, you will also absorb less calcium, and your body truly cannot do without it! Calcium is an essential nutrient that helps maintain strong bones and teeth and contributes to the normal functioning of your muscles. Elan has developed the Calcium Vital tablets specifically for people who have undergone weight loss surgery to help meet your daily calcium needs. Calcium Vital contains calcium citrate, a form of calcium that is well absorbed by your body. Additionally, Vitamin D3 has been added to the Calcium Vital tablets, as it enhances calcium absorption in your bones. Calcium and Vitamin D3 contribute to the maintenance of strong bones and teeth.
The required amount of calcium depends on your surgery. Based on the internationally recognized guidelines from scientific associations (ASMBS and IFSO), we recommend taking at least 1,200 – 1,500 mg per day. It’s also important to take no more than 500 mg of calcium at a time, to allow your body the opportunity and time to absorb the calcium. For the best advice after your surgery and tailored to your personal situation, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider.
Calcium is not included in Elan’s WLS products (Compass, Believe, and Supreme products) because calcium inhibits iron absorption.

Recommended dosage
Take 1-8 Calcium Vital tablets daily, preferably between meals or in the evening. Do not take more than 2 Calcium Vital tablets at a time. Allow 2 hours between doses. Swallow the tablets with plenty of water. Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage. Consult your doctor for advice.
Important

D Booster tablets
The D Booster tablets from Elan contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system, the maintenance of normal bones, the normal functioning of muscles, and a healthy inflammatory response! In other words, it’s a versatile vitamin, and it’s important to ensure you’re getting enough.
Elan’s D Booster tablets are a high-dose vitamin D supplement. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is significantly better absorbed by the human body and is therefore used in Elan’s D Booster tablets. With just one small tablet daily, you get 75 micrograms of vitamin D3, equivalent to 1,500% of the daily reference intake (DRI). D Booster tablets help prevent or treat a vitamin D deficiency.
Vitamin D can be produced by the body under the influence of sunlight. However, in the Netherlands and Belgium, the sun is often not strong enough to produce adequate vitamin D. Therefore, a supplement of this “sunshine vitamin” is a good addition for many people. Many individuals have an increased need for vitamin D, such as the elderly, children, and people who spend little time outdoors, have dark skin, or wear veils. The Health Council recommends using a supplement in these cases.
It may also be advisable to use Elan’s D Booster tablets during the winter months to prevent the winter blues. During this period, the sun is less powerful, and we also tend to dress more warmly, often wearing gloves, long sleeves, hats, and scarves that cover our skin. This results in a significantly reduced intake of vitamin D.
