Recommended daily dose
The amount of calcium you need depends on the type of gastric bypass you have undergone. Based on internationally recognised guidelines from leading scientific associations (ASMBS and IFSO), we recommend a daily intake of 1,200 to 1,500 mg of calcium.

As your body can only absorb a limited amount of calcium at a time, it is important to take it spread over the day. We recommend taking no more than 500 mg of calcium per intake. This gives your body time and space to absorb the calcium properly.

Why calcium is not added to our WLS products

Elan's WLS products (Compass, Believe and Supreme products) deliberately do not contain calcium. We don't do that for no reason: calcium can interfere with the absorption of iron in your body. And proper iron absorption is essential to prevent anaemia.

Important for your own health

Do you take Calcium Soft Chew alongside your WLS supplements from Elan? If so, do not take them at the same time. Make sure there is at least 2 hours between both intakes. This will give your body a chance to absorb the iron optimally.
